BOOM! Bet you didn’t see that coming! Yes, I have popped out of a bowl of BBQed Prawns in Perth, Western Strayla! Usually mission briefings are sent out a few days prior to departure, but for reasons that will soon be revealed, this one had to be kept a full Black Op, hence I am already on the ground.
WHY WHY WHY is this so exciting? Fuck, so many reasons, so grab a dart and take a shot, you can’t but hit a good excuse:
- Its officially the start of the DN Summer Tour! Yes, there has been mucho mucho hype as I filled in a few weeks in the global hub, but its now GO time
- Its the first proper Dirty Nomad mission with THE Nomad bike… Not to mention my first time back on an MTB for gulp/fart 5 months…
- It will be my first time mountain biking in Australia
- We see the reappearance of our W.A DN affiliate and Hulk on the scene, Herr Doktor:
“No mountain biking eh you weak armed cockhead, I’m going to take you down the death drop then dead lift your corpse for an extra work out”
Yes, our Dirty Tour guide for the Perth mission is the evil dirt Genius of Herr Doktor himself. He bases himself in Perth, where the local authorities turn a blind eye to his bike dungeon of terror, a secret location where he keeps bikes locked away for gruesome torture, experiments and more tinkering than a prominent Mayor getting his hooker looking GF a job. A Bothan spy managed to get this hazy shot of the carnage:

Of course we have already had a guest report from The Doktor on how sweet the Perth single track is, which in a large part prompted this dash down to hit some dry shredding, what better way to get a summer tour rolling?
I am mindful of course that I have become somewhat of a road specialist and the Dok has become somewhat of a shredding specialist, so much like riding with Clarso in the hills or the Hawk anywhere, I suspect I will be under the MF pump keeping up! This won’t be helped any given the Doktor’s penchant for tuning and upgrading his ENDURO world championship winning Cannondale Jekyll to perfection, now sporting a clean 1 x 10 set up:

Adding to the excitement of riding the beloved Nomad on dry trails? Well, some good upgrades flowing… Starting with Santa hooking me up (with my help, directly, but he signed off) with this epic upgrade, the Go PRO Hero 3+, BOOM:

Yes, I have a love/hate relationship with my current Go PRO, but I suspect that’s because its old and as such, have an overwhelming bias towards the fact that this will make the relationship 100% love. Plus, it will bring even more epic and high quality footage to YOU, the DN readership (if I can work out how to use it).
Roll on the DRY single track of the Herr Doktor shredding tour of Perth! I have no idea what’s in store riding wise, but I do know it will be GOOD TIMES!
